Understanding Glaze Class

Description:
Join us for an 8-week Understanding Glaze class designed to demystify the glaze process! Through extensive testing, students will explore various techniques in the glazing process while building a visual archive to reference for future projects.

The core project of this class involves investigating a glaze of the student’s choosing and testing a triaxial blend of that glaze. This course is open to all skill levels.

Come explore and learn as Reid shares his passion and knowledge for the ceramic arts, guiding students through the art of glazing. This class can be taken more than once, and everyone is welcome to join the fun and get their hands dirty!

Core Course Topics:

Introduction to glaze testing
Learn the process for understanding and researching glaze
What is glaze? Develop a basic understanding of the material breakdown in glazes through class lectures and testing. Apply glazes to a series of ceramic test pieces.
Glaze blending: Employ methods for blending multiple glazes to achieve more nuanced surfaces.

Supplies:
There is a $75 fee for materials, including clay, tools, and glazes.
