Beginner Ceramics: Hand Building and Wheel Throwing (No class on February 25 and March 4)

Description:
This 6-week beginner course offers a comprehensive introduction to the art of ceramics, covering both hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques.

What You'll Learn:

  • Soft slab construction techniques
  • Centering clay on the potter's wheel
  • Basic surface decoration techniques
  • Finishing works with glaze

Demonstrations at the beginning of each class will provide guidance, followed by hands-on practice in a safe, supportive environment. By the end of the course, students will gain a basic understanding of ceramic processes and take home finished, glazed ceramic pieces.

This class is ideal for beginners with no ceramics experience or for those seeking a refresher course.

Prerequisites:
None

Supplies:

  • Bring an apron and a notebook with pen/pencil.
  • All other tools and materials will be provided.

Materials Fee:
There is a $75 fee for materials, including clay, tools, and glazes.
