Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
Description:
This course is based on the twelve-week program in Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, an art educator who believed drawing relies more on learned skills than natural talent. Edwards explains the perceptual shift from verbal, analytical processing to a right-brained mode of processing visual information that is non-verbal and concrete.
The instructor will guide students through exercises designed to help shift from left- to right-mode visual processing. During the course, students will complete a variety of drawing projects, culminating in a self-portrait. Suitable for all skill levels.

Louisiana native Lyle Colombo paints portraits, landscapes, and works of abstract realism in oil on panel using traditional techniques. She continually seeks new ways to make representational painting, particularly the figure, relevant to the contemporary world.
