Course Title: Intro/Beginning Drawing For All Levels - No class on April 22 for Spring Break week
This course is open to all who have been curious about or have been wanting to learn how to draw from observation working with pencil and charcoal that may include still-life objects and the human figure. Structured to develop and expand one’s visual ability by studying three
dimensional forms and translating them to a two-dimensional surface. Students will acquire technical skills; learn different techniques and concepts; the fundamentals of visual vocabulary and handling of drawing materials including charcoal and pencil.Various conceptual and practical approaches to image-making are explored as formal issues such as line, volume, contrast, and composition are emphasized. Class assignments are accompanied by discussions.
This is an introductory drawing course covering the basic elements and principles of drawing such as line, shape, value, texture, compositional space, light logic and perspective.

Arturo Perez has has been teaching for over 25 years (K-12 to adults to seniors), has a Bachelor Degree from UNO in both Fine Arts and Science, has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute, and also volunteers at WWOZ, Creative Arts New Orleans (CANO) and Creative Industries. He continues to be involved in art and dance education teaching classes, workshops, private lessons, exhibiting work, and performing.
