Exploring Individuality in Art: An Independent Study
Description:
Inspired by Teresita Fernández’s assertion that the raw material for art is rooted in how we live, love, and engage with the world, this course invites students to focus on individuality in their art and deepen their creative practice.
This is not a “how to” class but rather a self-directed independent study. While technical instruction will not be provided, the course encourages exploration of artistic influences, acknowledgment of the myth of originality, and creation of personally meaningful art.

Nicole's paintings are very textural and built up over long periods of time. The superimposition of textures, images, words, loose, watery washes of paint and veils of translucent fabric or paper, creates a visual threshold in her work which is something to look at as well as to look through.
