Advanced Abstract Art Class

Overview:
In this course, students will build on foundational skills to develop their personal expression and delve deeper into the process of abstract art. Through guided instruction, practical demonstrations, and creative exploration, students will refine their intuitive approaches and strengthen their artistic voice.

What This Class Includes:

Working intuitively to discover and refine your natural "mark."
Using photos, blind contour drawings, and spontaneous line drawings as sources of inspiration.
Developing works in a series.
Creating art from observation.
Investigating composition through the formal elements and principles of design.
Participating in practical demonstrations.

Prerequisites:
Completion of Zona Wainwright's Beginning Abstract Painting Class is required.

Staedtler 8B pencil
Liquitex Matte or Gloss Medium - 8 oz
Palette Paper: 16” x 20” or 18” x 24”
Palette Knife (RGN brand): Choose either 109, 106, or 98
Brushes (minimum requirements):
- Princeton Select #12 round (one)
- 1” flat wash (two)
- 1½” bristle bright (one)
- Additional brushes of your choice
Paper Towels: 1 roll
Support Materials: Watercolor paper, illustration board, or canvas
Water Bucket: About ½-gallon-sized
