Advanced Painting: A Celebration of Life Through Paint
Description:
This course celebrates life through the expressive use of paint.
- The first class exercise will be completed in Alla Prima style using subject matter provided by the instructor.
- Subsequent classes will focus on the student’s chosen subject matter and rate of execution.
This course builds on techniques from beginning and intermediate painting courses, with additional emphasis on:
- Paint quality and the discourse created within the work.
- A wide range of painting techniques, including:
- Scumbling
- Glazing
- Impasto
- Sfumato
- Washes
- Layering
- Brushwork
- Palette knifing
Personal style development is paramount, but the fundamentals of craft will always be emphasized.
Prerequisite:
Intermediate Still Life or equivalent experience.
Supply List:
- Bring your regular oil painting supplies.
- Include a variety of canvas formats and sizes for the first class.
