Scalfi Spirit Scholarship in Third Year
We are proud to announce the offering of the Scalfi Spirit Scholarship for its third consecutive year. The following is a message from Sindy about the Inspiration for the Scholarship:
My father was a Civil Engineer by education. Growing up, I watched him sharpen his pencils, almost nightly, with his favorite pocketknife. He would pour over his surveys and building plans writing meticulous notes in the margins. I would often look over his shoulder and I could read every word and number, though they were smaller than an eighth of an inch high. It was an art.
He began his relationship with drawing and painting in his later years and would often be found at his office desk doodling or practicing color combinations on the back of old check stubs or any piece of paper he had handy. At Christmas time, he would draw and paint little cards to send to his and my mom’s friends. They were sweetly elementary and charming. When my father passed away, my sister and I found many little drawings and small paintings he’d done over the years. Our Dad was truly a student of art!
My family has always been interested in assisting others to pursue their artistic goals by providing educational opportunities to help nurture talent. I want to do my part to continue my father's legacy by sponsoring the Scalfi Spirit Scholarship at the Academy.
Applications for Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 are being accepted until August 30, 2024. Scholarships will be awarded in September prior to the Fall 2024 session beginning. Click here to visit our Scholarships page.
