Course Title: Advanced Color Theory

Description:
This six-week course delves into advanced principles of color theory, including:

  • Simultaneous contrast
  • Color analysis
  • The origins of pigments

Students will learn to mix and even make their own paint, working with gouache as the primary medium.

Prerequisite:
Introduction to Color Theory or Color & Design

Supplies:

Kit Provided for Purchase (approx. $150):

  • Gouache paints
  • Brush
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Bristol pad
  • Compass

Additional Supplies to Bring:

  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glass or plastic containers for rinsing brushes (e.g., glass jar or plastic cup)
  • White plastic or ceramic dinner plate for a palette (gouache can stain; use an old one)
  • Paper towels
  • Notebook and pen
  • Drafting or masking tape
  • Additional small brushes (specifics will be advised during the first class)
