The Academy on Wheels
A New Vision in Arts Outreach
The Academy on Wheels travels to schools, community organizations and homes throughout New Orleans to offer special classes on painting, printmaking, ceramics, and more! Our outreach programming is entirely free of charge for our partner schools and organizations. The Academy on Wheels is available to rent for events and other experiences as well, and all dollars spent on the Academy on Wheels goes directly to supporting expanding arts education in New Orleans.
We hope to reach over 100 students annually with engaging and immersive art education experiences. Your support helps us realize this goal.
Thanks to the generosity and support of Tom Winingder and Diane and Ray McPhail, the Academy on Wheels now operates as a fully equipped mobile classroom that aims to expand the reach of the Academy and share the wonder of art education with students across the city.

Since 1978, the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts has promoted the importance of the visual arts as a non-profit serving the Greater New Orleans area. Previously, our programs have only been available to students at our Magazine Street campus, but now, we’re ready to hit the road and bring art to the community with our traveling art education studio: the Academy on Wheels.
